Central Texas Flooding

- 7/7/2025

Comrades,

At the direction of State Commander Dave Walden, please be advised that all Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars relief activity related to the ongoing flooding in central Texas must be routed through Department Headquarters until further notice.

Although many Posts have already stepped forward in the finest tradition of service, our state and federal partners report that unsolicited donations and independent deliveries are now creating logistical congestion and, in several instances, hindering official distribution channels. The situation remains highly fluid; needs identified this morning may be obsolete by afternoon. Central coordination is therefore essential to ensure that every hour volunteered, and every dollar or item donated reaches the right place at the right time.

District Commanders, you are asked to pass this message to every Post in your District without delay and to confirm that dissemination is complete. Before launching, continuing, or advertising any flood-relief initiative, Posts should contact the Department Headquarters for the latest SITREP of agencies on the ground.

Headquarters will remain in continuous contact with the Texas Division of Emergency Management, FEMA, and local authorities. As their guidance evolves, we will issue prompt updates.

Your swift cooperation will safeguard resources, protect our reputation as a reliable partner, and most importantly; deliver the right assistance to our neighbors in need.

Thank you for your leadership and commitment. Let’s keep our people safe and ensure those effected get the relief they need.
