We have now been given instructions on donations for areas affected by the recent flash flooding. Each district has a single distribution drop-off point for posts in the district. This is to allow for a more streamlined logistical response in getting those donations to the right locations in need. Post 8787 has graciously stepped in to be the D28 Drop Off and Holding Area. Its central location in the D28, as well as easy access to IH35 makes this a good location. Please see the email below for the current needs. If your post wishes to gather supplies, please do so and drop them off at Post 8787. The address for Post 8787 is below, along with Comrade Commander Rabel's contact info. Thank you for all you do, and let's take care of our fellow Texans. I will keep this as a running email thread for any additional updates on supply request needs/changes. Please let me know if you have any questions!!

As we continue to support communities affected by recent disasters across our great state, the Dept of Texas is asking Posts and members to rally together in the spirit of service and camaraderie that embodies the Texas VFW.
We are requesting donations of the following essential items to aid in ongoing disaster response and recovery efforts:
Protein Bars
Beef Jerky
Liquid I.V. or Electrolyte Packets
Heavy-Duty Work Gloves
Bug Spray
Sunscreen
Eye Drops
Gallon-Size Zipper Bags
Yellow or Orange Safety Vests or belts
Garden Hoses
Tree trimmers
Machetes
Batteries (All Sizes)
Flashlights
Headlamps
Squeegees
Cleaning Supplies
Handheld Walkie Talkies
Socks
These supplies are critical to both first responders and affected families who are working tirelessly to clean up, rebuild, and stay safe under difficult conditions.
We ask that each Post coordinate local collection efforts and deliver or ship gathered donations to a designated distribution center within your respective Districts. Many of you have already identified Posts as staging areas for donations in your District. Your contributions will make a meaningful difference in the lives of fellow Texans in need.
Thank you for embodying the VFW’s commitment to service and for standing together during these challenging times. Your continued support reflects the best of what it means to be a veteran and a Texan.
